Review-Organic Spirulina & Yacon Syrup

Over the past 5 years or so, I have gained a lot of weight. When I say a lot, I’m talking around 50 pounds, give or take, depending on the day. It was gradual. I really didn’t even notice it at first. All of a sudden, it hit me. My pants were too tight. I didn’t like how any of my clothes were fitting. This is something I’m still struggling with today. Last year, I lost about 20 pounds and have since gained most of it back. I don’t like how I feel. At all. I’m trying to make small adjustments in my life to help remedy this. I was given the opportunity to review a couple products that could help me make these adjustments. The first product that I tried was organic spirulina by Sari Foods. I hadn’t heard of spirulina before this.

What is spirulina you may ask?? Spirulina is a blue-green algae. Sounds gross, right? Well, it’s not! It’s one of the best super foods that you can consume. Adding spirulina to your diet will help optimize your health and strengthen your immune system. This spirulina powder has over 100 naturally occurring vitamins and nutrients. This is one of the best things you can put into your body! Sari Food’s organic spirulina is 100% non-Ttxic and contaminate free. I couldn’t wait to try this stuff! The spirulina is a bright green color. It does have a slight smell to it. It smells earthy to me. This spirulina is a powder, so it’s easy to add it to almost anything. One easy way to use it is to add it to smoothies. This is what I have been doing with it. I was nervous at first that adding this powder would cause a distinct change in flavor of my smoothie, but it did not. It did make my smoothie a vibrant green color.

This is what I use to make my smoothies:
I like to make mango, peach, banana smoothies with the spirulina powder. I don’t measure out how much of each ingredient I use, I just wing it. I will put one ripe banana in the blender, and add some frozen mango and peach. Then, I add some spirulina powder to it. The suggested amount is a teaspoon, but as I stated before, I don’t measure it. If I have some plain or vanilla yogurt, I will add some into the blender. Finally, I top off all of this with some coconut water. I will blend it until it is smooth. This produces a pretty thick smoothie, but that’s the way I like them. I enjoy having these smoothies in the morning. With adding the powder, I feel more energized from my smoothie. This helps give me motivation to be more active through out the day. I was also given the chance to review 100% pure yacon syrup by True Synergy. Pure yacon syrup assists in weight loss and slimming waist sizes, regulating blood sugar, and increasing daily fiber intake. This is a syrup you would use in place of a sweetener. The suggested use is one teaspoon, three times a day. I have not ever had it the suggested times a day. However, it has still be helpful to me. I was nervous to try this because I didn’t know how it would taste. After trying it, it taste delicious! It has a molasses type flavor. The syrup is thick. I found that when I added the syrup to things, like my tea, I would need to add more than the recommended one teaspoon serving size to achieve the level of “sweetness” that I like. This product is likely to produce weight loss with prolonged use. Having used it on and off for about 4 weeks, I haven’t seen much of a change.
